Utah Valley University senior catcher/first baseman Amanda Robinson was named the Western Athletic Conference's Hitter of the Week following a stellar week at the plate for UVU. It is the first weekly award of the season for Robinson and the sixth of the season for Wolverine softball.

Last week, Robinson continued her torrid hitting pace through the month of April, going 5-for-9 with four home runs and eight RBIs over four games. She hit a home run in each game, giving her nine for the month and seven in her last eight games. In all, she went 5-for-9 with three walks, posting a remarkable 1.889 slugging percentage to go along with a .667 on-base percentage. She is currently riding a season-best eight-game hitting streak and went 2-for-2 in the opening game of a doubleheader against Pac-12 Utah on Monday. She hit a two-run home run in her first at-bat against the Utes and later delivered a two-RBI single, accounting for all four Wolverine runs scored in the game.

Robinson now owns 10 home runs on the season after entering April with just one to her name. She became UVU's all-time leader in home runs on April 12 when she hit her 32nd career blast against Grand Canyon. For the month, Robinson is batting .405 (17-for-42) with nine homers and 19 RBIs.

WAC regular season champion Grand Canyon's Stephanie Pesqueira claimed the WAC's Pitcher of the Week award after earning two complete-game victories over Seattle U last week. It is the fourth weekly honor for Pesqueira this season.

Utah Valley begins its four-game, non-conference road trip to close out the 2014 season this week when it travels to face No. 1 Oregon on Tuesday. The Ducks represent the highest-ranked opponent in UVU's Division I softball history. Game one of the Tuesday doubleheader gets underway at 4 p.m. MT.
