Former Real Salt Lake coach Jason Kreis is a man without team. Don't worry, he's using his time wisely.
After accepting the position of head coach at Major League Soccer expansion team New York City FC, Kreis has been given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to work for six months in England. While waiting to build a team through free agency and an expansion draft, Kries is learning the ropes at NYCFC sister club Manchester City FC.
"This is something I have always dreamt about, to be able to take some time away and watch and learn and be a part of one the biggest clubs in the world," Kreis says in a superb documentary short produced by MLSSoccer.com.
The "city way" seems very similar to Kreis' philosophy of "the team is the star" during his seven years as RSL's head coach.
"I firmly believe that if you put Lionel Messi on the worst team in Major League Soccer, they would still be the worst team in Major League Soccer," Kreis said.
