Utah Valley's Brayden Eriksen was named the Western Athletic Conference's men's golfer of the week following his top-10 finish at the Bandon Dunes Championship.
A junior from Qualicum Beach, BC, Canada (Kwalikum HS), Eriksen recorded his fifth top-10 finish in seven tournaments this season, after finishing in a tie for seventh at the esteemed Bandon Dunes Championship. Eriksen finished seven shots back of tournament champion Jonathan Sanders of Washington and helped lead the Wolverines to their highest all-time finish at Bandon, besting their previous mark of eighth place.
This is the second weekly award for UVU men's golf this spring as true freshman JT Timmons earned the honor on Feb. 18, after winning the Pat Hicks Invitational in St. George, Utah.
Eriksen has led the Wolverines in scoring average all season, averaging a score of 72.09 per 18 holes. He has competed in all eight tournaments during the 2013-14 season.
Emily Kaye of Grand Canyon took the same award on the women's side on the heels of her third-place finish at the Southern Utah University Invitational.
UVU wrapped up the Jackrabbit Invitational on Tuesday and will be off for nearly a month before closing the regular season at the El Macero Classic in California.
