The Utah Grizzlies (29-20-3-5) defeated the Stockton Thunder (27-22-0-6), 3-2, in a shootout Saturday night at Stockton Arena.

Utah battled back down 1-0 and down 2-1 in the third before prevailing three goals to one in the shootout.

Reigning ECHL Goaltender of the Month Igor Bobkov stopped 19 of 21 shots through regulation and three of four in the shootout to improve to 12-5-2-2 on the year.

David Vallorani’s team leading 20th goal of the year tied the game at 1-1, eight seconds into a four-on-three power-play situation in the first period. Mathieu Aubin won the faceoff and set up Vallorani for the blast. The score tied the game at one, 14:41 into the first period and 10:14 after Stockton took a 1-0 lead 4:27 into the first.

Stockton scored late in the second period to take a 2-1 lead to the third period.

Danick Paquette tied the game at 2-2 with 11:38 left in regulation as he buried his 13th goal of the year on a cross-ice pass from Joseph Cramarossa as Brendan Jamison started the play as he crossed the blue line.

Paquette had a goal waved off with just under five minutes left in regulation after his slap shot from the high-slot was disallowed due to interference in the crease.

Three of Utah’s five skaters scored in the shootout with Jamie MacQueen, Vallorani and Phil Mangan all netting goals.

Utah returns to Stockton for games Friday and Saturday next week. Faceoff both evenings is at 8:30 p.m.
