State universities and community colleges should offer free tuition to all students who academically qualify for admission. Debate has continued recently about whether community college education should be free, Inside Higher Education reported.

Debate has continued recently about whether community college education should be free, Inside Higher Education reported. Some states, like Tennessee, Oregon and Mississippi, are proposing that the first two years of community college education not require tuition. But there’s a financial problem that comes with concept, Inside Higher Education said.

“If states forgo tuition revenue, they will need to find that money elsewhere,” said Dewayne Matthews, vice president of strategy and policy at the Lumina Foundation, which looks to increase college enrollment.
