The West Coast Conference announced BYU women’s tennis was picked to finish fifth in the 2014 preseason coaches poll on Tuesday.

The Cougars tallied 45 points in the poll, ranking them behind Santa Clara with 58 and just ahead of San Francisco with 44. With 78 points, Saint Mary’s was chosen to be the champion.

In 2013, BYU finished its second season in the WCC with a 3-5 record, going 10-11 overall.

The first conference match for the Cougars is against Pacific on March 21 at noon MDT. The home opener is Feb. 15 at 10 a.m. MST versus No. 54 Denver.
