With finals out of the way, the Utah Valley University men’s basketball team is back on the court Friday at 7:05 p.m. MT against Haskell University inside the UCCU Center.

The Wolverines (4-6) got 21 points from Holton Hunsaker in a loss at Utah State last Saturday. Hunsaker also scored 14 to lead UVU to a win over Weber State on Dec. 11, and on Monday he was named College Sports Madness’ WAC Player of the Week.

Zach Nelson leads three players averaging double figures for UVU with 11.8 per game. Hayes Garrity is scoring 11.1 per game with Hunsaker at 10.7.

Haskell Indian Nations University, out of Lawrence, Kansas, competes in the Midlands Collegiate Athletics Conference in the NAIA. The Indians are 2-8 on the season and led by Dillon Thompson’s 10.9 points per game. Utah Valley has faced Haskell twice before, winning both, with the most recent contest being an 84-49 win on Jan. 2, 2011.

“We have enjoyed competing against Haskell through the years,” UVU head coach Dick Hunsaker said. “They’re always excited to play and bring a great effort.”

UVU will play its next three games at home before beginning WAC play on Jan. 4 at Bakersfield.

The Wolverines will close out the pre-Christmas schedule on Monday against North Dakota State of the Summit League. The Bison are the pick to win the league and placed three players on the first-team All-League team led by Player of the Year pick Taylor Braun. Monday’s game tips at 7:05 p.m. MT. UVU hosts Tennessee Tech on Dec. 28 in the final non-conference game of the season.
