WEST VALLEY CITY – The Utah Grizzlies scored two third period goals, and goaltender Aaron Dell stopped all 24 shots that he saw in his Maverik Center debut on the way to a 2-0 win over the Ontario Reign on Saturday night.

“The guys came out and played a really good defensive game tonight," Dell said. "We got some goals in the end and got the win.”

Rylan Galliardi hammered in a rebound on a Channing Boe shot 11:01 into the final period of regulation to give Utah a 1-0 lead. Mathieu Aubin got the puck up ice and picked up the second assist.

“We did what it took to win the game,” Grizzlies head coach and General Manager Tim Branham said. “We talked about it all game, having a good start, playing a good second, and the third period has been our weakest this season. We talked about coming out and playing the right way. The guys played the right way tonight and they were rewarded for it.”

After a Dell save, Galiardi won a battle to set up a two-on-one for T.J. Battani who fed Kris Hogg for his second goal of the year with 1:41 remaining, giving Utah a 2-0 lead. Dell made several big stops to keep the game scoreless, including in the first period with Utah on a five-on-three shorthanded situation.

The win improves Utah to 2-1-1-1 at the Maverik Center this year and gives Ontario (5-1-1-2) its first regulation loss of the campaign.
