HELENA, Mont. – The Westminster College women’s soccer team earned a 1-1 draw against Carroll (Mont.) in a Frontier Conference game at Nelson Stadium on Friday. It was the first time that Westminster (6-6-2, 1-0-2 Frontier) has escaped Helena without a loss.

Neither team got on the board in the first 45 minutes despite Carroll (4-4-2, 0-0-1) holding an 8-6 advantage in shots. Carroll took the lead in the 72nd minute with a goal by Kayla Bayer. The Griffins evened the score in the 88th minute with a strike from Nicole Carter.

Westminster outshot Carroll, 18-3, after halftime to finish the game with a 23-11 edge in shot attempts and managed to get 16 of those attempts on goal while also taking six corner kicks. The Griffins got six shots off during the two overtime periods but couldn’t find a game winner.

Carter’s goal was her team-leading fifth of the season. Abi Yanke made five saves to earn a second straight tie in goal for the Griffins.

The Griffins return to action Saturday as they visit Great Falls (Mont.) for a 2:00 p.m. MDT match with the Argonauts.
