SALT LAKE CITY — There’s no place like home for the University of Utah men’s basketball team in the preseason — with one exception.

Aside from a Dec. 3 trip to Boise State, the Runnin’ Utes will play the remainder of their non-conference games in the Huntsman Center. The lone game against an in-state foe will be Dec. 14 when rival BYU comes to town.

Utah will tip things off with an exhibition game against Saint Martin’s on Nov. 1. The 12 non-conference games that follow include a Nov. 21-23 tournament featuring Grand Canyon, Lamar and Savannah State. Grand Canyon is coached by former NBA star Dan Majerle. Other teams slated to visit Salt Lake City before conference play include Ball State, Fresno State, Idaho State and Texas State.

Utah (15-18 in 2012-13) tips off the Pac-12 season Jan. 2 in the Huntsman Center against defending conference tournament champion Oregon. The Ducks defeated the Utes, 64-45 in the semifinals last March in Las Vegas.

Six days earlier, however, Utah upset 19th-ranked Oregon, 72-62 in the Huntsman Center. The Ducks topped the Utes in Eugene, 73-64 on Feb. 9.

Utah hosts every Pac-12 team except California and Stanford this season. The Utes will visit every school with the exception of the Oregon schools.

A three-game homestand in late February and early March includes the third Sunday home game in school history — Feb. 23 against Arizona State.
