I've encountered the love of God and through encountering his love I know for myself my worth. I love myself. I respect myself. The void that I was searching for I found in Jesus, and I could never go back. —Brittni Ruiz

Brittni Ruiz, a former porn star who changed her life to follow her new Christian beliefs, recently appeared on "The View" with her pastor to discuss her new-found faith.

Ruiz's story was first shared after she participated in a video produced by the XXXChurch in which she expressed her gratitude for its nonjudgemental guidance.

While on "The View," Ruiz was asked why she got into the pornography industry at age 18. Ruiz explained that she was searching for acceptance and love as a young actress, but after seven years in the industry, she realized she didn't have either.

"I was searching for love in all the wrong places. I came from a childhood that wasn't the greatest," Ruiz said. She continued to explain that "in the beginning I felt 'beautiful,' I felt like I had found my self-worth, and after a while I felt destroyed, hopeless — I felt helpless. I tried to commit suicide several times. I was miserable."

Ruiz's pastor and founder of the XXXChurch, Craig Gross, was then asked about his non-denominational church and how it was able to find Brittni.

"Our church goes to all of the adult entertainment expos across the country," Gross explained. "But it really wasn't me, I mean I set a lot of that up, but it was a team of our women that just cared and loved her and told her she was loved and valued."

When asked why Gross's church targets pornography, he expressed his deep concern for the effect the adult entertainment industry already has on so many.

"I was a youth pastor and I didn't see a bigger issue facing this generation than this topic of sex and pornography," Gross said. "So we thought nobody else was talking about this, this was 11 years ago and we thought we would go after it."

After discussing the happiness Ruiz now feels, "The View" host Sherri Shepherd asked her if she ever misses her work and wishes she could go back. Ruiz quickly responded that her faith has changed her permanently.

"No, absolutely not. I've encountered the love of God and through encountering his love I know for myself my worth. I love myself. I respect myself," Ruiz said. "The void that I was searching for I found in Jesus, and I could never go back."

Gross also explained that Ruiz recently returned to an expo with the XXXChurch and met with some of her friends to describe how she was able to find happiness after leaving the industry.
