High school track: Lone Peak boys and Orem girls capture titles at Utah County Invite

HIGHLAND — Mountain View’s Jadon Pace won’t soon forget his performance at the Utah County Invitational this Saturday.

The Bruin senior won both the high jump and long jump at Lone Peak High School, setting marks in the top 10 in both events in Utah this season.

He cleared 6-06 in the high jump, tied for second-best in Utah this season, and he soared 21-02 in the long jump, the 10th-best jump in Utah.

His effort led Mountain View’s boys to a third-place finish at the Utah County Invite, which was won comfortably by Lone Peak with 144.5 points. Maple Mountain finished second with 93 points.

Lone Peak finished with six individual winners, including Blake Ellis winning both the 200 and 400 meters. Chandler Clark won the discus for the Knights, with his 149-03.25 throw ranking in the top 10 this year in Utah.

Maple Mountain’s Isaac Faux was a double winner as well in the 800 and 1,600, and his 4:20.77 time in the 1,600 was also a top-10 performance.

While Lone Peak was running away with the boys title, so were the Orem girls as they claimed first place in the 10-team meet with 130 points.

Summer Harper won the 800 meters for the Tigers, while teammates Bonnie Mua won the shotput and Lesa Mua won the discus.
