BRIGHAM CITY — A Brigham City woman was killed Thursday and three of her grandchildren were hospitalized when they were hit while walking on a sidewalk.
An 87-year-old woman was driving north on Main Street in Brigham City Thursday afternoon when she attempted to turn left onto 700 South, turning into the path of a southbound vehicle and causing a collision. The crash forced the woman's car onto the sidewalk where it hit four pedestrians, Brigham City Police Lt. Dennis Vincent said.
The pedestrian, 59, and her grandchildren were transported to Brigham City Hospital where the grandmother died, Vincent said. The children — two girls, ages 7 and 4, and a boy, age 2 — were all in stable condition Thursday night. The names had not been released, but all four are Brigham City residents.
The driver was also taken to the hospital in a private vehicle with complaints of shoulder pain. She will likely be cited for failure to yield, Vincent said.
The southbound driver, a 36-year-old woman, was uninjured.
