BRIGHTON — A man found on the Tantamount run at Brighton Ski Resort Wednesday is dead, apparently killed after snowboarding into a tree. Police identified the man as 26-year-old David Sitek of Sandy.
Another skier located Sitek and tried to revive him but he was not responsive, Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal said. Police were notified shortly before 8 p.m.
Medical teams also tried to resuscitate Sitek and a medical helicopter was called in but the snowboarder was pronounced dead at the scene, Hoyal said.
Hoyal was unaware whether or not Sitek was wearing a helmet. Police are working to determine whether he was alone visiting the resort.
