ZION NATIONAL PARK — Historian W. Paul Reeve from the University of Utah will speak about death rituals of Southern Paiutes, Mormons and silver miners in southwestern Utah and southeastern Nevada at the Zion Canyon Community Center on Friday, March 29, at 7:30 p.m.

The lecture is free and open to the public. The presentation, titled “Left to Rot on the Hillside: Intercultural Death on the Western Frontier” is taken from a chapter in his recent book, "Making Space on the Western Frontier." Reeve’s presentation investigates the challenges of death and dying on the frontier, especially when it took place across the cultural divide.

The next lecture in the Zion Canyon Field Institute’s Fern and J. L. Crawford Lecture Series is “Fremont Rock Art,” and will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2013 at 7:30 pm. For more information on the lecture series, visit www.zionpark.org/zcfi_lecture_series_2012_2013.
