USU softball: Wednesday softball home opener against Utah postponed
Mid-March showers forced the postponement of Wednesday's season home opener against in-state rival Utah. The game has been rescheduled for April 16 at 1:30 p.m. (MT), which will be followed by a game against another in-state foe, Utah Valley, at 4 p.m. (MT).
USU will begin Western Athletic Conference play at San Jose State, who is currently 19-10 this year. The Aggies will open its weekend series with the Spartans with a single game on Friday, March 22. First pitch is set to be delivered at 4 p.m. (MT). Fans can follow the action through live stat links available on the USU website.
Utah State is coming off its best stretch of the season after putting together a five-game winning streak and finishing last week with a 5-2 record.
Leading the way for Utah State thus far this year is senior infielder Christine Thomsen, who is batting .414 to go along with a team-leading .522 slugging percentage and a .514 on-base percentage.
Doug Hoffman is the assistant athletic director for Utah State University Athletic Media Relations.
