Utah Jazz report card: Mo leads the way as Jazz cruise by Pistons

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Jazz limped home looking for a victory against the Detroit Pistons after a heart-wrenching 0-4 road swing. Mo Williams put up 20 points and six assists to lead the Jazz over the Pistons, 103-90. Greg Monroe led the Pistons with 15 points and 13 rebounds.

Guards: Mo Williams played well in his fourth game back from a thumb injury. Williams led the way in scoring and seemed much more comfortable with his jump shot and running the offense. Randy Foye continues to struggle as he finished with two points. Foye has shot a cold 29 percent from the floor since the All Star break.

GRADE: B+

Forwards: Derrick Favors started in place of the injured Paul Millsap and finished with six points in 20 minutes of play. DeMarre Carroll finished with five points in 18 minutes. Favors was a much bigger presence on the defensive end as he finished with eight rebounds and three blocks.

GRADE: C

Centers: Al Jefferson looked much better against Detroit at home than he did against New York on the road just two days prior, as he finished with a double-double. Jefferson scored 16 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in his first home game back from injury. Jefferson's defensive lapses were not as prominent as he faced up against a younger version of himself in Monroe.

GRADE: B+

Bench: The bench played a strong game as it accounted for 54 of Utah's 103 points. Enes Kanter and Marvin Williams finished with 14 points apiece. Kanter nearly finished with a double-double as he pulled down eight rebounds. Williams stuffed the stat sheet as he finished with six rebounds, four assists and two steals to go with his 14-point effort. Jeremy Evans also had a well-rounded night with eight points, seven rebounds, five assists and two blocks.

GRADE: A

Overall: The Jazz sorely needed a win to regain its confidence in a very tight playoff race and Detroit was the perfect victim. Jamaal Tinsley was out due to illness and Earl Watson did not play, which helped the offense flow much better. Marvin Williams had a much better game as he decided to be more aggressive to the basket and let the jump shots happen within the flow of the offense. The Jazz shot 51.9 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from 3-point land. As usual, the first quarter was very slow for Utah, but Detroit could not capitalize as the Jazz still held a small lead after 12 minutes. The third quarter was terrible offensively for the Jazz, but the Pistons couldn't capitalize on that opportunity, either. The Jazz were very fortunate to come away from the game unscathed.
