SALT LAKE CITY — Students literally tried to drum up support for the arts on Tuesday at the state Capitol.
Friends of Art Works for Kids, a grass-roots initiative created to advocate for the Beverley Taylor Sorenson Arts Learning Program, brought together schoolchildren to perform and seek support for the integrated arts program. The event was an opportunity for supporters of the program to make their voice heard and convince legislators to give it full funding in this year's education budget.
Students from Knowlton Elementary, Davis Elementary, Oakridge Elementary, Midas Creek Elementary, William Penn Elementary and Wasatch Elementary participated.
