At Arizona Western, he played in the 2011 junior college national championship game, losing to East Mississippi Community College in the El Toro Bowl. He lettered in track and football at Woodrow Wilson High (N.J.) and he graduated from Brimm Medical Arts High School (N.J.) He was second-team all-conference as a senior in 2010 when he had 10 receptions for 217 yards (21.7 average) and two touchdowns. He won a student-athlete award and a performing arts award. He is the son of Gregory Jackson and Tonya Reese and has three brothers and one sister. His brother Tahshon runs track at Arkansas State. He enjoys piano and is interested in biology. Santa Ana College won the 2012 Southern California Bowl, beating College of the Canyons. He was Edison High School (Calif.) MVP as a freshman and sophomore, all-league as a sophomore and junior and was Edison's Most Valuable Back as a junior in 2009. He had five catches for 95 yards for Diablo Valley College in the 2012 East Bay Bowl win over Laney College. He was DVC team captain. As a freshman, he had 32 receptions for 411 yards and six touchdowns. He played football and basketball at Angelo Rodriguez High (Calif.) He was second-team all-county in football in 2009 and 2009-10 honorable mention all-Solano County Athletic Conference in basketball. He is the son of Andre Sr. and Rhonda Lewis. His father is a music producer and community activist in the San Francisco area. He has three sisters and one brother. His brother, Steve Johnson, is a receiver for the Buffalo Bills. His full name is Andre Lewis Jr., and his nickname is Dre. He was born July 15, 1992.
