New judge appointed to 5th District Court

SALT LAKE CITY — Gov. Gary Herbert has appointed attorney Jeffrey C. Wilcox to fill a vacancy on the 5th District Court bench, which hears cases originating in Beaver, Iron and Washington counties.

“Jeff has a well-deserved reputation as a litigator who possesses both outstanding skills and unquestioned integrity. His wide breadth of practice areas will make him an asset to the bench” Herbert said. “He has demonstrated a commitment to serving the people of Utah with his practice and will now do so as a judge.”

 “I am truly humbled by the invitation to serve on the court,” said Wilcox. “It’s a great opportunity to serve the community I love.”

Wilcox joined the St. George-based firm Gallian, Wilcox, Welker, Olson & Beckstrom L.C. in 1984 shortly after being admitted to the Utah State Bar. He has practiced in many areas including general litigation, real estate, banking, commercial, corporate, partnership, business, personal injury, insurance defense, construction law and adoption.

Wilcox earned his juris doctorate from J. Reuben Clark Law School in 1984 at BYU.
