SOUTH SALT LAKE — Police are working to identify a man who they say robbed a U.S. Bank on Thursday.

Police say a man of medium build, possibly Polynesian, entered the bank at 2714 S. 300 West just after 5 p.m. and handed over a note demanding money. The man claimed he had a gun, though he didn't reveal one during the heist, police said.

The man left on foot with an undisclosed amount of money and was last seen running west on 2700 South.

The man is described as being between 5 feet 9 inches and 5 feet 11 inches tall with a ponytail and goatee. He was wearing a black and white baseball cap, white athletic jacket and denim pants at the time of the robbery, police said.

Anyone with information about the man is asked to call South Salt Lake Police at 801-840-4000.
