Impatient man called in bomb threat from police station, officers say

COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS — A man who apparently didn't believe the Cottonwood Heights Police Department was attending to him quick enough was arrested for allegedly calling in a bomb threat — from the lobby of the police station.

Demetrius Johnson, 33, was arrested for investigation of making a terroristic threat to a government unit.

On Wednesday, Johnson was in the lobby of the Cottonwood Heights Police Department "asking for assistance at the security window," but reportedly thought that "officers did not respond as quickly as he thought they should," according to Salt Lake County Jail report.

So Johnson used the phone in the lobby to call police dispatchers and told them "he was in the police lobby and had a bomb," the report states.

Johnson was arrested and booked into jail. He was also charged Monday in Taylorsville Justice Court with criminal mischief, a class B misdemeanor, in a separate case. In October, he was charged with assault in Taylorsville Justice Court, also a class B misdemeanor.
