LAYTON — Box Elder’s wrestling team won seven of 14 individual titles at the Layton Invitational on Saturday to roll to the easy victory at the prestigious tourney. The 4A runner-ups from a year ago placed a wrestler in the top six in every weight but two.
Box Elder’s individual winners were Shand Hardy (132), McKay Parrish (145), Matt Williams (152), Rasten Yeates (160), Nick Sorenson (170), Jake Tolman (182) and Breckin Gunter (185).
Yeates, Sorenson and Gunter are all defending 4A state champs entering this season.
The host Layton Lancers finished second in the team race despite no individual winner.
Other individual winners were: Viewmont’s Taylor Porath (106), Herriman’s Jaron Jensen (113), Herriman’s Chandler Strand (120), Alta’s Matt Findlay (126), Uintah’s Colton Havens (138), Taylorsville’s Roy Nash (220) and Logan’s Jacoby Wildman (285).
