'Tis the season: Local holiday events for everyone

Voice Male Christmas Concert: This a cappella group has been performing for more than 15 years. This year's tour will include classic Christmas renditions along with new hits.

"I Believe in Christmas" at the Grand:

Location: 1575 S. State Street, Salt Lake

Dates: Dec. 18-19, 7:30 p.m.

Cost: $18-$22

"A time of forgiving: The Christmas musical": Kingsbury Hall will feature the Lyceum Philharmonic, and the original music and performances of award-winning recording artist Paul Cactus Jack La MARR.

Location: 1395 E. Presidents Circle, Salt Lake

Dates: Dec. 21-22, 7:30 p.m.

Cost: $28-$58

Kristin Chenoweth: The Broadway, film and television star will command the stage on New Year's Eve.

Location: 1750 Kearns Blvd., Park City

Date: Dec. 31, 8 p.m.

Holiday events

Heber Valley Railroad: The North Pole Express train ride will include hot chocolate, music and special gifts from Santa.

Location: 450 S. 600 West, Heber

Dates: Dec. 1-24 (select dates). Train departs at 2 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Cost: First-class seating $47 for adults, $37 for children. Coach seating at $30 for adults and children.

Festival of Trees: View more than 700 different trees along with other attractions while supporting Primary Children's Medical Center.

Location: South Towne Expo Center, Sandy

Dates: Nov. 30-Dec. 1, from 10 a.m.-10 p.m.

Cost: Tickets cost $5 for adults, $3 for children (ages 2-11) and $4 for senior citizens. Visit the website for special offers.

The Holiday Market: Visit the Gallivan Center to find several unique handmade gifts available for purchase.

Location: 239 S. Main Street, Salt Lake

Dates: Fridays and Saturdays from Nov. 30-Dec. 22, 11 a.m.-8 p.m.

Jingle Bus: For the first time, free bus transportation will be provided to Salt Lake visitors that will travel from City Creek to Temple Square to Gateway and the Gallivan Plaza.

Christkindlmarkt and Lantern Parade: This Is the Place Heritage Park offers a unique holiday shopping experience based off of the German Christmas markets along with the St. Martin's Lantern parade.

Location: 2601 E. Sunnyside Avenue, Salt Lake

Dates: Nov. 30- Dec. 1, 11 a.m.- 9 p.m.

Cost: Free

Candlelight Christmas: This Is the Place Heritage Park will decorate its village in order to welcome Father Christmas and live reindeer.

Location: 2601 E. Sunnyside Avenue, Salt Lake

Dates: Dec. 7-29 (excluding Sundays and Dec. 24-25)

Cost: Free with admission

Jingle Bell Run and Walk for Arthritis: Wear a holiday-themed costume and help make a difference by running or walking for the Arthritis Foundation.

Location: Trolley Square, Salt Lake

Date: Dec. 1

Cost: $25 to register online

Ice sculpture demonstrations: Spectators can watch the ice form as local artists transform 300-pound ice blocks.

Photos with Santa: Enjoy visiting with Santa.

Red Butte Garden's Holiday Open House: Enjoy free apple cider and hot chocolate while local artists display handmade gifts for purchase.

Adult Hanukkah luncheon: Sponsored by the National Council of Jewish Women and Jewish Community Center. Food, games and entertainment will be provided.
