BYU football: Jordan Preator commits to BYU and Tanner Shipley (Ore.) recommits

"They told me that they'd keep the offer open for me and hoped I'd decide to come back, but that I should take my time," Shipley said. "That really impressed me and all throughout my recruitment BYU was always on top, but I really looked into other programs."

Chief among those other programs were Oregon State and Colorado. Shipley recently took an official trip to Colorado and came away impressed. Shortly after his visit, however, Colorado fired its head coach and Shipley took it as a sign.

"I think that was really a confirmation that BYU was where I needed to be," he said. "I think that was the final thing I needed to recommit to BYU. Shortly after they fired coach (Jon) Embree I decided to commit to BYU."

Shipley feels completely at peace with his commit now and is excited for his future at BYU. He doesn't have certain mission plans, but will discuss the option with coach Bronco Mendenhall this Friday during an in-home visit.

"I don't know when I'll start playing there or what, but I know for certain that BYU is the right place for me," Shipley said. "I love the coaches, I love the atmosphere and I just know in my heart that it's where I need to be. There's no doubt in my mind now."
