SALT LAKE CITY — A Salt Lake Community College instructor has received a national award for his work as a writing tutor.
Clint Gardner, Student Writing Center coordinator for SLCC, has won the 2012 Ron Maxwell Award for Distinguished Leadership in Promoting the Collaborative Learning Practices of Peer Tutors in Writing.
The award recognizes a professional within the National Conference on Peer Tutoring in Writing for dedication to and leadership in collaborative learning in writing centers, aiding students in taking on more responsibility for their learning and promoting the work of peer tutors.
Gardner was president of the International Writing Centers Association from 2007 to 2009.
