Utah Jazz report card: Second game of new rotation leads Jazz over Rockets

SALT LAKE CITY — After a 2-2 road trip the Utah Jazz looked to beat the Houston Rockets at home Monday and improve their record to .500. Newly acquired James Harden played ineffectively and not at all in the second half due to flu-like symptoms, and the Jazz rolled under head coach Tyrone Corbin's second night of a new rotation, 102-91.

GUARDS: Mo Williams may have not had his greatest night scoring, but he dished out seven assists and didn't let Jeremy Lin turn into an All-Star as the new Rocket scored just above his average with 13 points. Randy Foye took advantage of his second start of the season for the Jazz with 14 points on 4-of-11 shooting and 4-of-7 shooting from 3-point range. GRADE: B+.

FORWARDS: With Corbin's big lineup move, Derrick Favors got the start again and finished with eight points, eight rebounds and two blocks. Paul Millsap, who started at the small-forward position, finished with 10 points and eight rebounds. The regular power forward looked as if he was trying to get more comfortable starting at the small forward position. GRADE: B+.

CENTERS: Al Jefferson recorded another double-double after carrying the Jazz on the road against the Wizards with 14 points and 16 rebounds. Kanter notched a solid six points and eight rebounds backing up Jefferson in 21 minutes. Kanter finished with three blocks and Jefferson swatted one away as well. GRADE: B+.

BENCH: The Jazz bench was once again superb, but it always helps when you have two players in Marvin Williams and Gordon Hayward who each found themselves on the bench after spending the beginning of the season in the starting lineup. Marvin Williams had 12 points on 4-of-9 shooting from the field and 3-of-3 shooting from 3-point range. Hayward put in 15 points on 5-of-12 shooting. Jamaal Tinsley led the Jazz with 11 assists and played a big role during the second quarter when the Jazz held a 23-point lead. GRADE: A.

OVERALL: Despite starting completely flat and enduring a lackluster third quarter, the Jazz took care of business at home against a team without its best player in the second half (Harden). The Jazz led enough for Corbin to feel comfortable digging deep into his bench in the final four minutes. The Jazz met the status quo on defense and offense regarding averages and managed to get back to an even record. The second quarter was quite possibly the best quarter of basketball the Jazz have played all season. GRADE: A-.
