Author Courtney Martin to speak on activism at University of Utah lecture

SALT LAKE CITY — A blogger and award-winning author will deliver the University of Utah's 62nd annual Reynolds Lecture.

Courtney Martin, a writer based in Brooklyn, N.Y., will examine what she says are the challenges of modern activism and illustrate examples of whom she considers to be contemporary community heroes.

Martin’s lecture will draw upon her new book, “Do It Anyway: The New Generation of Activists,” in which she profiles eight diverse, young activists. The talk is titled “Do it Anyway: The Real Deal on Activist Work in a Complex Time.”

The lecture, sponsored by the U.'s continuing education department, is scheduled for Nov. 8 at 10 a.m. in the Utah Museum of Fine Arts Dumke Auditorium. It is free and open to the public, but RSVP is required. To RSVP, call 801-585-6375 or visit continue.utah.edu.
