Checking out what was new on the Mormon Messages Channel via YouTube, I was overwhelmed to see not one or two new videos, but a plethora of new messages, six of which I’ll highlight today. So sit back, grab some popcorn, and enjoy some marvelous Mormon Messages.
First there are three new “Unto All the World” features. Virtually go “Out of Africa” and experience the vibrancy of the people and their testimonies. Elder Jeffrey R. Holland of the Quorum of the Twelve narrates this new piece and explains that “there is a faith and purity about these people that just leaves me awestruck.” It’s really quite beautiful. The next video gives us “Mahmud’s Story” an African who has joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints after he gains a testimony and runs through the streets thinking, “This is right!”
And the final “Unto All the World” introduces us to Bernice, who explains her reason for joining the LDS Church. Simply, “Love.” Click in to watch all three!
“In the 19th century, a brilliant dawn of Restoration broke upon the world, and the gospel of Christ, full and complete, was once again upon the earth. This glorious day began when, in ‘a pillar of light above the brightness of the sun,’ God the Father and his Beloved Son, Jesus Christ, visited young Joseph Smith and initiated what would become a virtual flood of revelation linked with divine power and authority.” Elder D. Todd Christofferson of the Quorum of the Twelve begins this new video about the reasons why “We Need Living Prophets.” There are some lovely testimonies from individuals members throughout. This would be a nice family home evening base. Click in to watch.
A lawyer gives a judge a copy of a document. As Elder Dallin H. Oaks, of the Quorum of the Twelve, uses this in an analogy, the message of this video about "Testing Revelation" becomes clear. He concludes: “(A prophet) is the certifying authority that his teaching or direction is from God. Anyone who doubts this — and none are discouraged from personal doubts — can verify the authenticity and content of the message by checking it with the official source, by revelation.” Check it out!
Finally, watch “Juan Mendoza’s” story, a Mexican man who left the church, but then went through “a mighty change of heart” and returned. Elder David A. Bednar, of the Quorum of the Twelve, narrates this video about the importance of “The Rescue” initiative for finding and reactivating those who are less active. Click in to watch this touching story where Mendoza explains that “the Lord never forgets us.”
Now let’s find other viewable posts from the past week in the Bloggernacle:
Power pick: On the heels of the newly released video “Daughters of God” comes a new article from the LDS Newsroom describing “Women in the Church.” It explains, “As disciples, Latter-day Saint women are encouraged to cultivate a personal faith in and relationship with God, to study scriptures and doctrine, to teach the gospel in their homes and congregations and to participate faithfully in all the saving ordinances of the gospel. All church members have long been encouraged to seek education in all its forms; it is a divine commandment as well as a path to service and a more meaningful life.” Click in to learn more what it means to be “Women in the Church.”
Techie tip: “Did you know that many of the functions that leaders and clerks could only get on MLS in the clerk’s office can now be done on LDS.org from any computer?” So asks Larry Richman, and if your calling is clerk and you haven’t learned all about the new features and updates for clerks, then this post is for you: “Updates to Clerk Resources on LDS.org.” This is just one example of how staying in-the-know with church technology resources can make one’s calling so much easier.
