PROVO, Utah - The BYU women’s tennis team hosts the BYU Invitational at the Outdoor Tennis Courts, starting Thursday at 9:00 a.m. and concludes Saturday afternoon. Players from Weber State, Utah State, Boise State and Wyoming will participate. This is the first tournament of the school year for the women.
“I’m excited to get started with our fall pre-season,” head coach Lauren Jones-Spencer said. “It’s a good tournament to see where the girls are at and I think we’ll do really well.”
For the past five years, a BYU player has won the singles tournament. The Cougars have also been well represented in doubles play, as junior Desiree Tran and senior Aubrey Paul took home the crown last year.
The tournament starts with doubles play, beginning at 9:00 a.m. The singles matches start at noon. The athletes compete as individuals in the tournament while representing their schools.
Admission is free and open to the public. The tournament can be followed online by going to the USTA's website.
