Idaho fires to blame for Utah's smoky air

SALT LAKE CITY — The National Weather Service announced Monday that Utah has Idaho to blame for the smoky air.

The smoke was brought in from some Idaho fires by a cold front that swept in Sunday night. The smoke is hanging over northern and central Utah, and could stay several days if winds don't pick up.

KSL meteorologist Kevin Eubank predicts that mild weather and a high-pressure system will keep the air hazy through Thursday, with smoke lingering from Idaho's nine fires, as well as from the three fires burning in Utah.
