What do you get when you have some enterprising Mormon bloggers hoping to spread the gospel using blog technology? The Book of Mormon Blogger Project, of course.
This blogger, Marial Wangsgard, introduces the project on her blog by answering “Why Are Your Favorite Bloggers Mormon?” Citing another blogger, she explains that “Mormons are encouraged to share their talents, expand their minds and foster creativity. Blogging is a fantastic way to do that. I can't tell you how much I have learned from blogging, how much I have stretched myself creatively and how satisfying it is to share any goodness I find with my readers. This blog, though it can be exhausting at times, has been a huge blessing in my life. Beyond wondering why there are so many Mormon bloggers, it is also asked, Why are they Mormon? Why is anyone Mormon? Starting today, I (and many of the Internet’s biggest Mormon mommy bloggers) are going to give you the opportunity to find out.”
So 30 bloggers (find links to all of them in Wangsgard’s post) put together these “testimony packets” that include, among other things, “our favorite scriptures, the ones that have personally touched our lives, along with a free Book of Mormon. Why the Book of Mormon too? Well, it would be impossible to really understand us without it. It is a major part of our religion, our lives ... and part of why we are Mormon. The Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. It is the ancient records of prophets who lived in the Americas before, during and after Christ’s time on earth. Honestly, I think it's the coolest book ever. So, there you have it. Between the blogger's thoughts and the Book of Mormon, I think you'll get a fairly good idea about where we're coming from.”

Now let’s find other amazing examples of taking initiative in the Bloggernacle:
Power pick: There is just something so inspiring about people gathering together to serve in their community. Today's example comes from the "Mormon Helping Hands: Farnborough Ward" of the Reading England Stake, members who put their shoulders to the wheel last Saturday to work around the incredible St. Michael's Abbey in Farnborough. And isn't it just so cute to see those tiny helpers, with their "Mormon Helping Hands" smocks falling off their shoulders? And yet, their hands were busily helping just as well. And the Young Men leader who explained that "it was a bit early for them sometimes, but we teach them good principles that when they are serving, they are serving the Lord." And there was the little boy, who when asked how serving made him feel simply answered, "Happy." Happy indeed.
Techie tip: So imagine, if you will, some theatergoer in Los Angeles flipping through his playbill at "The Book of Mormon" musical and coming upon an ad from the church saying “The Book Is Always Better” with an accompanying QR code (those little boxes that look like wacky barcodes that relay Internet information). All they’d have to do is whip out their smartphone, scan the code and be whisked to Mormon.org, suddenly learning more about the church. Can I just say how much I love this example of how technology and creativity can mesh together to become such a cool and clever missionary tool? Awesome.
