USU golf: Utah State’s Tanner Higham tied for sixth following first two rounds at Battle in the Tetons

Utah State’s Tanner Higham is currently tied for sixth place with a 1-over 145 after the first two rounds of the Battle in the Tetons held at the Headwaters Golf Club at Teton Springs Resort Monday.

Utah State currently sits in fourth place in the eight-team field with a 17-over 593 after shooting a 19-over 307 during its first round, followed by a 2-under 286 in the second round, which was the second-best round of the afternoon. Wyoming has a 24-shot lead on the field after the first two rounds with a 14-under 562 (277-285), while the Cowboys’ Eddie Stewart sits atop the leader board after rounds of 68 and 69 for a 7-under 137.

Higham, a junior from Shelley, Idaho, began the tournament with a 2-over 74 before carding a 1-under 71 during his second 18 holes. Freshman Seokwon Jeon (Salt Lake City, Utah) is tied for 18th with a 5-over 149 (79-70), and freshman Reed Platke (Whitefish, Mont.) is tied for 24th at 7-over 151 (74-77). J

Junior Zach Waxler (Casper, Wyo.) is also tied for 24th after rounds of 80 and 71 Monday, and senior Brendan Dennis is in 37th place with a 10-over 154 (80-74). Teams will tee off on Tuesday, September 4, in the final round of the Battle in the Tetons beginning at 8:30 a.m.
