Highland, Orem propose property tax increases

OREM — Highland and Orem are proposing to increase property tax revenue within Utah County.

If Highland approves the measure, its tax will increase from $242.60 to $383.20 for residential property, and from $441.10 to $696.74 for commercial property.

Orem's hike, if approved, will increase residential property tax from $232.44 to $349.93 and commercial property tax from $422.62 to $636.24.

Data are based on a countywide average property value of $220,000. The same value is used for both residential and commercial property.

Concerned citizens are invited to attend public hearings on their tax increases. Hearings will be held in Highland on Aug. 7, 7 p.m. at 5400 W. Civic Center Drive; and in Orem on Aug. 14, 6 p.m., at 56 N. State.
