SALT LAKE CITY — Police deployed a Taser on a 15-year-old girl who they say was threatening to harm herself, and possibly others.
About 4:15 p.m. Friday, police were called to a residence near 300 North and 800 West where a teen girl, after getting into an argument with her parents, grabbed two knives from the kitchen and threatened to injure herself, said Salt Lake police detective Mike Hamideh.
Neither the girl's father nor responding officers could verbally convince the teen to drop the knives, he said.
In order to prevent the girl from hurting herself and others, an officer deployed his Taser.
The girl was then taken into custody and transported to a local hospital for a psychological evaluation.
