SALT LAKE CITY — This week, the Salt Lake City Fire Department has been conducting a water rescue class involving 12 of its firefighters.
The training exercises included course instructors will have a vehicle submerged in the water, and rescue workers extricating a mannequin from the vehicle.
The firefighters also conducted different types of rescues using complex rope and boat systems. These situations prepare the firefighters for rescuing trapped kayakers, swimmers and anyone in the water needing help.
