BRIGHAM CITY — A motorcyclist was killed Monday night after hitting a mattress on I-15.
About 10:45 p.m. the southbound motorcycle rider hit a mattress that had been left in the roadway at mile marker 353. The man, whose name was not immediately released pending notification of family, was pronounced dead at the scene.
"A helicopter was dispatched but the driver was pronounced dead before the chopper could arrive," Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Todd Johnson said.
Investigators were looking Tuesday for the person responsible for the mattress on the road.
"We certainly would want to talk to them and interview them and see what their story is," Johnson said. "Obviously someone did not secure their load properly. At a minimum that's something we would be looking at."
