EAST MILLCREEK — A 20-year-old man was in extremely critical condition Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle.
About 11:45 a.m., the vehicle driven by a 60-year-old woman was waiting to turn left onto 3300 South from Wasatch Boulevard, said Unified Police Lt. Justin Hoyal.
Witnesses reported seeing the pedestrian running across the street — against the light — in an apparent attempt to "beat the traffic," Hoyal said. The woman's vehicle in making the left turn struck the man, rolling over the top of him.
The man, whose name was not immediately released pending notification of family members, was flown by medical helicopter to University Hospital.
