SALT LAKE CITY — Carl Wimmer picked up the backing of Utah's top cop in the 4th Congressional District race.
Utah Attorney General Mark Shurtleff endorsed the former Republican state House member in a statement Monday. He called Wimmer an excellent legislator and the candidate best prepared to represent the 4th District.
"I have worked with Carl on several major pieces of legislation, including strengthening laws against child predators. His work has been invaluable in our fight against Obamacare," Shurtleff said.
Other Republicans in the race include former Utah House member Stephen Sandstrom, Saratoga Springs Mayor Mia Love and attorney Jay Cobb. Congressman Jim Matheson is the Democratic candidate.

Well, the fact Shurtleff endorsed Wimmer is enough for me not to vote for the man. Anyone involved in Shurtleff's political deals is tainted by corruption. I know that's harsh, but I've personally observed it.
This is a frightening story for two reasons: 1. Wimmer does not represent his constituency. He represents his version of the Tea Party ideology (State Gun - Give me a break!) 2. Our State's Attorney General thinks sending this guy to Washington More..
The fastest way for a Republican in this state to lose my vote is to tout an endorsement by Mark Shurtleff. Combine this endorsement with Carl Wimmer's constant flip-flopping on who he's supporting for president, and it's easy to see More..
