BYU quarterback Riley Nelson is a student of the game. He's also a student of Cougar QB history.
Nelson has spent a lot of time in the film room, watching his predecessors at that position, including Virgil Carter, Gifford Nielsen, Jim McMahon, Steve Young and Ty Detmer.
Nelson told BYUtv after Monday's practice what he's learned from them about being a BYU quarterback.
Linebacker Kyle Van Noy celebrated his 21st birthday Monday, and he talked about that milestone to BYUtv.

Riley will do just fine as quarterback. He does have some inexperienced receivers that he needs to motivate.
For motivation, Riley might want to think about hanging a couple of pinatas filled with Diet Coke and gift certificates to More..
Can't help but like Riley's humility and guts. Pretty articulate kid also.
I think it's why so many fans cheer for him.
He's actually watched tape of Virgil Carter, dating back .... 47 years? Who handled the reel-to-reel projector? Bless his heart!
