Provo — A 49-year-old woman standing on a sidewalk with friends was killed when a truck struck her after it had been hit by another vehicle at an intersection Monday.
At about 5 p.m. a Ford pickup truck traveling east on Center Street attempted to make a left-hand turn onto 900 East and pulled directly in front of a Jeep Grand Cherokee traveling west, Provo Police Sgt. Mathew Siufanua said.
The westbound vehicle t-boned the truck, propelling it toward four pedestrians standing on the sidewalk. All of them managed to move out of the way except Madeline Charrington of Provo who was dragged 25 feet, Siufanua said.
Paramedics initiated CPR as soon as they arrived, and Charrington was transported to Utah Valley Medical Hospital where she died as a result of her injuries.
Both drivers were also transported to the hospital for injuries although it was not immediately known how severe. Both were conscious and breathing when they were transported Siufanua said.

Most auto accidents are not truly accidents. Most auto accidents are avoidable.
I'd like to see an increase in use of "vehicular manslaughter" or "attempted vehicular manslaughter" charges for these drivers that kill or More..
Did one of those drivers run a red light? As I drive, I expect to see at least a half dozen red runners every day.
When will we start to enforce that law?
Safety tip to all. When I wait at an intersection corner, if there is an available pole (such as in the first photo), I'll stand behind the pole. It would greatly reduce ones risk of being hit.
