SPANISH FORK — A Spanish Fork man is facing federal charges for allegedly filing more than $875,000 in phony federal tax returns.
Stanley Wardle was hit with nine counts of filing false claims for income tax refunds by a federal grand jury Wednesday in Salt Lake City. Only one of the false claims was filed for himself, the indictment states. He filed eight other claims for other individuals.
Together, though, they amounted to $875,218 in bogus claims.
Wardle faces a possible sentence of five years in prison and a $250,000 fine on each count, if convicted.
