SOUTH JORDAN — Two men who police say seemed very lost were arrested after officers found an estimated 80 pounds of marijuana in the bed of their pickup truck.
Concerned residents in the area of 10200 South and 4700 West called police about 4 a.m. Monday on a pickup truck driving through the area, said South Jordan Police Lt. Rob Hansen.
When officers spotted the vehicle it was parked along the side of the road. Hansen said the two men inside seemed "out of it."
"They didn't even know they were in Utah," he said.
The two said they were traveling from California back to their home in Minnesota but could not come up with a good explanation why, Hansen said. The men were then found to have a small amount of marijuana on them, he said.
After the duo was placed into custody, a search of the truck revealed 80 more pounds of marijuana in airtight bags placed in canvas bags in the truck bed, Hansen said.
"This was quality packaging," he said.
Also found was an unloaded revolver near the passenger seat, ammunition, two knives and nearly $2,000 in cash.
Kyle Obdeidzinski and Neil Koskovich, of Minnesota, were booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of drug possession with intent to distribute.
