The body of a Cedar City teen missing since he left home to go jogging more than two weeks ago has been found in a rugged canyon east of here, authorities say.
The body of Jason Edwards, 18, who disappeared on May 26, was found about 2:30 p.m. Thursday by hikers, Iron County Sheriff Ira Schoppmann said Friday.Edwards' body was discovered in a depression near the top of some cliffs in Spring Canyon, about two miles from town.
The state medical examiner was to determine the cause of death. There was no evidence of foul play, Schoppmann said.
Edwards was reported missing after he failed to return from a run the day before he was to have graduated from Cedar City High School, but an extensive air and ground search was unsuccessful.
"It is significant to point out that there are a great number of rumors circulating about the `mysterious death' of Jason," Schoppmann said. "Those rumors are not true."
