National High School Finals Rodeo: Rusty Wright tops sibling in saddle bronc finals chase
ROCK SPRINGS, Wyo. — Rusty Wright took over first place in saddle bronc riding from his brother Ryder on Tuesday evening with an 83 point-performance at the National High School Finals Rodeo.
Katelyn Badham was still in first place in barrel racing, while Springville’s Karista Nusink and Mona’s Shaylyn Carter weren’t ranked after finishing in 18.1 and 18.159 seconds, respectively.
Dax Barnson was still in fourth place in team roping and was in 15th in tie-down roping. Brodi Jones and Stefan Ramone fell to 21st in team roping after the evening runs.
In boys cutting, Malad’s Wyatt Misrasi and Kaysville’s Ladd King both posted 144 points for a tie for fourth while Ian Dixon dropped out of the rankings. In girls cutting, Morgan’s Kacee Waldron scored 143 points to get in a tie for 12th place, while Oakley’s Rylee Dick was in 18th with 142 points and Kaysville’s Shalee King posted 140 and is tied for 21st.
In steer wrestling, Sil Bundy dropped to 23rd, while Benjamin’s Austin Sutch wasn’t ranked after a 12.5.
In breakaway roping, Ashley Allen was still in fifth.
In pole bending, Delta’s Josie Moody and Roosevelt’s Madi Harris weren’t ranked after runs of 21.259 and 25.963, respectively. McLayne Pearson fell to 18th.
In goat tying, Lehi’s Emmalee Dubois wasn’t ranked after a time of 10.43.
Barnson is in seventh for all-around cowboy with 230 points, while Pearson was in a 2-way tie for ninth with 30 points in rookie all-around cowgirl.
The boys team was in second with 1,065 points, while the girls team was in ninth with 480 points.
