SPRINGVILLE — Jordan Rodgers came from two shots back to overtake Darrin Overson on the back-nine and win the Sonny Braun Art City Amateur on Sunday..

Rodgers fired rounds of 66-67 for a 36-hole total of nine-under par 133 on the par 71 layout to win his first amateur tournament of the year. Rodgers participated on BYU's NCAA regional team at Auburn in May and will be a senior at BYU this fall. After starting his round with a pair of bogeys, he finished the next 16 holes at six under par.

Rodgers, who was runner-up three times this winter to BYU teammate Zac Blair in UGA Winterchamps, the St. George Amateur and Red Rocks Amateur, birdied holes 13 and 15 when early leader Overson made bogey to take a two-shot lead after 17 holes of the final round. When he missed the green on No. 18 and chipped to four feet and made par, Overson had a chance to tie with an 18-foot eagle putt that broke eight feet. Overson's try grazed the lip and he settled for a birdie to close the gap at one stroke.

Weber State's Devon Purser finished third at seven-under par 135, and Salem Hills high school star Kai Ruiz shot a pair of 68s to finish in fourth.
