The Philadelphia Inquirer said the privately funded development will include 258 apartments, 13 townhomes and retail space. The meeting house will hold a chapel, history and cultural centers and outdoor courtyard.
The project will stand next to the Mormon temple that's set for completion in 2016. No date has been set for breaking ground on the tower and meeting house, which are expected to take around two years to build.
Church officials said the cost of the multimillion-dollar project is not yet known.
