GUNNISON 31, SUMMIT ACADEMY 24: Heading into the fourth quarter with the game tied, Gunnison scored to break the tie and escape with the narrow win. Dagan Thomas rushed for four of Gunnison's five TDs, including one in the fourth quarter, to power the home team in victory.
NORTH SUMMIT 28, LAYTON CHRISTIAN 23: Ryan McMichael rushed for two touchdowns and passed for another as North Summit eked out a victory over Layton Christian to earn a share of the 2A North region title. North Summit extended its lead to 28-16 with less than two minutes remaining, but Jack Chandler returned the ensuing kickoff 70 yards for a touchdown to give the Eagles hope for an upset.
SOUTH SEVIER 40, NORTH SEVIER 0: South Sevier jumped out to an early 26-point lead and never looked back, cruising past North Sevier in region play. Devin Bishoff ran for two TDs, while Jaaron Nielsen caught two more touchdowns to lead the home team in the big win.
TOOELE 20, UINTAH 18: The Buffaloes jumped to an early lead in the first quarter, then held on for victory.
STANSBURY 42, PARK CITY 7: Alex Mackay ran for 155 yards and three TDs on 14 carries, while Zane Anderson added 106 yards and two TDs on just three touches to power Stansbury's running game in the blowout win. Josh Mulivai also contributed 10 carries and 103 yards for the Stallions.
BEAR RIVER 46, BEN LOMOND 7: Jeremie Selman finished with 11 carries for 102 yards and a touchdown, helping Bear River to a lopsided region win at home. Bridger Beaus led the receiving corps with three catches for 96 yards and a TD.
DESERT HILLS 7, SNOW CANYON 3: In a defensive slugfest, Desert Hills hung on for the critical region victory as Bridger Cowdin's 1-yard touchdown in the first quarter proved to be the difference. Cowdin finished the game with 98 yards rushing on 20 carries and the lone TD.
PINE VIEW 32, PAYSON 3: Kody Wilstead lit Payson up for 344 yards passing, finishing the game 22 for 33 with one interception. Jack Bangerter caught six passes for 122 yards and Triston Duran hauled in four catches for 119 yards for Pine View.
DIXIE 41, CEDAR 0: Ammon Takau finished the game 17-for-23 through the air for 193 yards and four touchdowns to lead Dixie to the shutout victory. Drew Batchelor caught six passes for 83 yards and two touchdowns in the Flyers' region win.
FREMONT 21, VIEWMONT 0: Justin Shaw completed 28 of 36 passes for 302 yards and one TD while rushing for two more TDs as Fremont blanked Viewmont. Paxton Merrill also caught nine balls for 128 yards, while Spencer Jones added seven catches for 72 yards in the win.
DAVIS 36, LAYTON 24: Colton Chronister led the Darts with 275 passing yards, two touchdowns and one interception in the region win over Layton. In the loss, Davis Marriott totaled 224 rushing yards on 36 carries for the Lancers.
SYRACUSE 37, WEBER 13: Kavika Fonua ran for two TDs while Blake Taurone caught two more touchdown passes as Syracuse blew past Weber at home. Kole Tracy and Chase Bauerle also each threw two TDs, while Romney Harker was a perfect 4-for-4 in field goals in the lopsided win.
TAYLORSVILLE 14, COTTONWOOD 9: Taylorsville's two early touchdowns in the first quarter helped the Warriors outlast the Colts on the road. Christian Bentley returned an interception for a score to spark Taylorsville's defense.
WEST 41, GRANGER 14: West pummeled visiting Granger, allowing the visitors to score just once in the lopsided region win at home.
HUNTER 49, HILLCREST 0: Hunter jumped to a 20-0 lead after the first quarter and cruised to the comfortable win at home. Nathan Uhi scored three times for the Wolverines, and the team amassed 521 yards.
BINGHAM 52, COPPER HILLS 0: Bingham jumped out to an early 28-point lead after the first quarter and cruised from there. Kyle Gearig finished with four TDs, while Josh Gurr added two of his own on the ground to power the home team in the region victory.
BRIGHTON 34, JORDAN 21: After gaining just 30 yards rushing in the first half, Osa Masina added 140 yards in the second half to help Brighton prevail. Simi Fehoko ignited the Bengals' defense with three interceptions.
HERRIMAN 42, LEHI 17: Herriman's 21-point second quarter helped the Mustangs blow past Lehi on the road. Brandon Farmer broke free for three rushing TDs, one that went for 79 yards, to power the visiting team.
BOX ELDER 31, MOUNTAIN CREST 8: Shad Watson scored a pair of touchdowns as Box Elder improved to 4-1 in Region 5 and officially eliminated Mountain Crest from playoff contention. Jayk Brooks added a long touchdown run for the Bees in the second half to help put the game out of reach.
ROY 55, BONNEVILLE 22: The Royals scored early, jumping out to a 42-14 lead at the half, then cruised to the comfortable win at home.
TIMPANOGOS 49, MURRAY 13: Timpanogos jumped out to an early 28-7 lead at the half and cruised the rest of the way to the region win against Murray.
OLYMPUS 41, MOUNTAIN VIEW 16: Olympus outscored Mountain View 34-14 in the second half to pick up the lopsided region win on the road.
OREM 24, SKYLINE 10: Facing a 10-10 tie entering the fourth quarter, Orem outscored Skyline by 14 points in the final 12 minutes to take the victory. Orem turned two Eagles' interceptions into points en route to victory.
MORGAN 35, NORTH SANPETE 0: Kade Carrigan scored four times and rushed for 114 yards, while Madd Murdock added 127 yards to lead the Trojans to the comfortable win over North Sanpete.
PAROWAN 28, AMERICAN LEADERSHIP 26: The Rams scored consistently to edge the Eagles and secure the narrow win.
DELTA 19, GRANTSVILLE 13: Bracken Lovell scored on a 28-yard run with 32 seconds remaining to give Delta the narrow victory at home. Grantsville had scored 13 points in the second half to tie the game.
RICHFIELD 63, CARBON 0:
JUDGE MEMORIAL 49, MANTI 20: Kaden Elliss rushed for a trio of touchdowns and threw for another to lead Judge past visiting Manti. The Bulldogs outscored Manti 28-6 in the second half to secure the victory.
LOGAN 45, HURRICANE 14: Chase Nelson completed 22 of 31 pass attempts for 326 yards and four touchdowns to lead Logan to the lopsided nonregion win at Hurricane. Taylor Compton had six receptions for 102 yards and a TD for the Grizzlies.
JUAN DIEGO 51, SPRINGVILLE 33: Cole Nelson rushed for 153 yards and three touchdowns, while Wyatt Parkin added 147 yards and two touchdowns as Juan Diego ran all over Springville in a bizarre game that lasted three hours thanks to a pair of power outages. Juan Diego rushed for 430 yards as a team.
EMERY 36, CANYON VIEW 26: Emery's big first-half lead helped the Spartans outlast Canyon View at home. Marco Mota scored four times and added 243 yards to contribute to the win.
WOODS CROSS 35, CORNER CANYON 17: Braxton Gunther led Woods Cross with 12 carries for 134 yards and a touchdown, helping the Wildcats improve to 8-1 on the season. Riley Ogden finished with 118 yards and a TD on 18 carries in the Corner Canyon loss.
DUCHESNE 28, MONTICELLO 21: Trent Roberts ran for two touchdowns as Duchesne scored 14 points in the fourth quarter to survive a scare from visiting Monticello and extend its winning streak to 43 straight. Dillon Maughan scored all four of Monticello's touchdowns in the loss. Dylan Despain added 113 yards rushing in the Duchesne win.
2A FIRST ROUND
WATERFORD 7, GUNNISON 1: Waterford scored six goals in the first half and Maddie Dukes netted two goals as Waterford defeated Gunnison to advance to the second round of the 2A playoffs. Paula Ferracini scored the lone goal for the Bulldogs in the loss.
SOUTH SUMMIT 2, PAROWAN 1: Lacey Farmer scored both of South Summit's goals to propel the Wildcats past Parowan and into the second round of the 2A playoffs. Taylor Cowen scored for the Rams in the loss.
DELTA 3, ST. JOSEPH 0: Maddie Deloach recorded the shutout for the Rabbits.
GRAND 1, MAESER PREP 0: Sophomore Skyla Sheldon scored the game's only goal with about 18 minutes left in the second half, giving Grand a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Maeser Prep Academy in the opening round of the 2A playoffs. Grand goalkeeper Abbie Camps made several key saves in the closing minutes to earn the shutout.
MILLARD 3, LAYTON CHRISTIAN 0: Denise Crabb netted all three of Millard's goals while Megan Taylor earned the shutout between the posts as Millard defeated Layton Christian to advance to the second round of the 2A playoffs.
ROWLAND HALL 5, AMERICAN LEADERSHIP 1: Rowland Hall had a strong showing in the first round of the 2A playoffs, netting five goals at home to advance.
3A FIRST ROUND
UINTAH 8, NORTH SANPETE 0: Erin Elder had a hat trick in scoring and three assists, while Jessica Spencer had two goals and an assist and Brittany Hansen added another assist for the Utes in the shutout.
BEAR RIVER 4, DESERT HILLS 1: Sadie Croney scored two goals as Bear River defeated Desert Hills in the first round of the 3A playoffs.
CEDAR 3, STANSBURY 1: Courtney Carpenter scored a pair of second-half goals as Cedar pulled away from Stansbury for the first-round playoff victory. Jenny Munoz gave the visitors an early lead, but Cedar responded by scoring three unanswered goals.
PAYSON 2, MORGAN 1: Facing a 1-0 deficit at the break, Payson came back in the second half and scored two goals to edge Morgan to advance to the second round of the 3A playoffs. Shelby Blauer and Hallie Neves each found the back of the net in the win.
SNOW CANYON 2, BEN LOMOND 1: Cami Bergen converted a PK in the final six minutes as defending 3A state champion Snow Canyon opened the tourney with a strong road victory at Ben Lomond. The game was level 1-1 at the half and seemed destined for overtime prior to the late PK.
DELTA DEF. MILLARD 25-12, 25-14, 25-12: Delta defeated Millard in three straight sets to pick up the road win against Millard.
SOUTH SEVIER DEF. NORTH SEVIER 23-25, 25-11, 25-17, 25-18: After dropping the first set, South Sevier won three straight to defeat North Sevier in region play.
PIUTE DEF. VALLEY 25-3, 25-15, 25-5: Piute played its last region game of the season and defeated valley in three straight sets.
ENTERPRISE DEF. BEAVER 25-17, 25-22, 25-17: Dakota Robinson had 20 kills, eight digs and three blocks; Riley Lyman had 13 kills, seven digs, and four blocks; and Kaylie Christensen added 22 assists in the Enterprise win over Beaver.
