Baseball: Utah Bucks turn back Texas team in Gates Field World Series
KEARNS — The Utah Bucks defeated the Austin (Texas) Wings 8-7 on Saturday as Bo Burrup earned the win at the fourth annual Gates Field World Series.
The Bucks were also scheduled to play the Danville (Calif.) Hoots on Saturday, but that contest and one involving the Utah Marshalls and the So Cal Renegades were postponed due to rain.
Chaffey (Wash.) beat Cherry Creek (Colo.) 9-2 in the tournament opener. Mak Fox earned the win on the mound for the Washington squad.
The Utah Marshalls will play twice today at Gates Field, facing the Danville Hoots at 4:30 p.m. and then going up against the So Cal Renegades at 7:30 p.m.
The Utah Bucks are also slated to play twice today, with those games being played at Salt Lake Community College. They'll face the Danville Hoots at noon and then Chaffey (Wash.) at 3 p.m.
The tournament runs through Wednesday.
