PROVO — Coming off a strong spring season, BYU claimed a six-seed at the Pullman Regional of the 2013 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships Monday night.
The Cougars will travel to Pullman, Wash., to compete in the 14-team regional tournament on May 16-18 at the Palouse Ridge Golf Club hosted by Washington State.
DIXIE STATE GOLF: Eight of the nine nationally top 25 ranked teams in the tournament are among the top 10 in the team standings after Monday's first round at the NCAA Division II Men's Golf South Central/West Regional being held at The Home Course, which measures 7,138 yards.
Dixie State sits tied for 14th after shooting an opening round 297 for a +9 score.
The Red Storm were led by a pair of 73s from Kenny You and Matthew Brereton as the pair are tied for 32nd place.
West Region No. 1 seed Cal State Monterey Bay, rated No. 6 nationally, leads the 20-team field at 9-under par 279.

Colorado State Pueblo's Hee-Leina Kim carded her second straight 74 and leads by seven strokes.
In team play, St. Edward's leads with a score of 629. Grand Canyon is second at 637, Tarleton State is third at 638, followed by Sonoma State at 639 and Dallas Baptist at 640.
